CATEGORY: SUMMER RESIDENCIES
LOCATION: GEROLIMENAS, MANI
PROJECT DATE: 2026
A complex of rental apartments was designed, consisting of three independent, distinct volumes, each of which is covered by a four-pitched roof. The fragmentation resulted from the need to comply with the scale of the buildings of Mani, as well as from the integration into the plot, which has a gentle slope.
The massing follows the topography of the site and maintains an introverted character, with the internal façades accommodating the outdoor relaxation spaces, while the external façades feature small windows in accordance with the proportions and scale of local typologies. A semi-outdoor space opens on all floors toward the exterior from the southern corner of the plot.
The architecture proposal seeks a balance between local identity and contemporary functionality. Stone dominates the façades, with small vertical bands and plaster lintels framing the openings and creating a contemporary dialogue with traditional materiality. The buildings feature tiled pitched roofs. The window frames, balconies, and railings are made of wood, referencing traditional Maniot houses.
